Doing A a house sit on the island, We've been getting to know Maui a little better, taking in the stunning scenery and diving into its local dining scene. One thing we’ve quickly realized is that the happy hour culture here is second to none, and we've had the pleasure of exploring some of the island's top spots. Whether you're looking to unwind after a day of sightseeing or just want to taste some of the best food and drinks Maui has to offer, these spots won’t disappoint.
Maui Thai Bistro - A Slice of Thai on the Island
Our first stop was Maui Thai Bistro in Kihei. Nestled in a strip mall, it might not look like much from the outside, but once you step inside, the warm, inviting atmosphere hits you. The menu is filled with delicious Thai comfort food that hits all the right notes—fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and a wonderful mix of spices. Their happy hour offers tasty cocktails at great prices, and we couldn't resist trying the Lychee Martini paired with their Crispy Spring Rolls. The restaurant also serves fantastic Thai iced tea if you prefer something refreshing. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this spot is perfect for a relaxed evening.
Mokeypod – Beachside Vibes and Killer Cocktails
Next up, We headed to Mokeypod, a cozy bar with a relaxed vibe and a killer cocktail list. Located near the beach in Kihei, it’s a great spot to kick back after a long day of exploring. The bar serves up inventive cocktails and has a solid selection of beers, but the real treat is the Mai Tai—it’s got that perfect tropical balance of sweet and sour with a bit of rum kick. We also enjoyed their Ahi Poke Tacos, a perfect pairing with our drinks. Whether you're there for the music, the vibe, or just to soak up the aloha spirit, Mokeypod offers a memorable Maui experience.
Koho's Bar and Grill – Casual, Fun, and Delicious
For a more casual, fun spot, Koho's Bar and Grill in Kihei is a great choice. The place has an easygoing, friendly feel, with a menu packed with comfort food and tasty drinks. We highly recommend grabbing a cold beer or a refreshing margarita, and don’t skip the Fish Tacos—they’re a local favorite. Ekolu Kitchen1279 offers a relaxed, casual setting, and it’s the kind of place where you feel good about indulging in tasty food while knowing it’s also good for you.
Tommy Bahama – Classic Hawaiian Elegance
For a more upscale but still laid-back experience, We couldn’t resist popping into Tommy Bahama in Wailea. The brand’s laid-back luxury vibes really shine through here. Their happy hour menu offers a great variety of cocktails and small bites. We went for the Tommy’s Margarita (it’s always a win) and paired it with the Crispy Calamari. Both were fantastic! The ambiance here is perfect for those looking to experience a more refined side of island life, without sacrificing the fun, beachy atmosphere that Maui is known for.
